Tips for Making Bids at Freelance Writing Jobs

with one comment

Professional freelance writers use a five-step process for arranging work in order to make money. The five-step process is -

  • Search for the jobs listed on online marketplaces and place an appealing bid.
  • Search for the jobs by using job-meta search engines.
  • Search for the jobs listed on online job boards.
  • Make proposals to various magazines and websites.
  • Market the services through blogs and social networking sites.

The five-step process takes time but it’s useful in maintaining a steady stream of work. However, it mainly depends on how you place your bids on job boards, marketplaces and how you write your proposals. If your proposal impresses the employer then you’re most likely to grab the deal. So, you should always try to write an attractive proposal and you should try to place appealing bids so as to grab the work. In addition to appealing bids, you should also provide sufficient samples to ensure the employer that you know what you’re talking about and to ensure him that you’re capable of completing the task efficiently.

Here are some of the things that you should consider while making a bid for the jobs listed on job marketplaces -

  • If you specialize in a specific industry then you should place a high bid and it should be more than the bid of a general writer who writes about anything. Even if you also write about anything, you should place a high bid for the industry that you’re well aware of.
  • Don’t get disappointed if you lose a project even if the winning bid was same as that of yours. Sometimes, a group of writers work together and offer fast turnaround, which helps them to win the projects. You should not get disappointed if something like this happens with you. A number of jobs are usually available on the job boards and so, you should keep trying. You should also try to establish yourself as an individual that has a lot of knowledge and this can be done by reading a number of informative articles.
  • You should always try to deliver quality service. It’s not difficult to turn a client into a regular client if you can impress him with your service.
  • In order to grab a writing job, you should not place bids that are too low. You should do the math and set the price appropriately to ensure you’re satisfied with what you’re earning per project.

If you want to turn yourself into a professional writer then you should consider the following tips -

  • You should always try to meet the deadlines.
  • You should check your articles for quality before sending them to the client. You should always try to avoid errors.
  • If you made a mistake in an article and the client finds it and informs you, you should correct it accordingly and you should admit your mistake instead of getting into an argument.
